Class Victory at Donington Park Spring Trophy

Held on the 1.98 mile National Circuit at Donington Park at the end of May, the Spring Trophy is a great chance for the historic motor racing community to dust off the classics and get racing.

This was the first competetive outing of the year for both Gary, and the Lola and they didn’t disappoint! Donington is always a popular venue and it suits the historic machinery well, some decent weather didn’t hurt either! 

Fitting in to the “SP1” (‘67-’71 sub 2 litre) class of the Thundersports race which ran on the GP layout of the circuit, this diverse grid of historic endurance cars brought the noise to Donington for a 30 minute qualifying session followed by a 30 minute race on the Sunday afternoon.

The car ran faultlessly throughout and Gary qualified 6th overall and 1st in class. Racing later in the day, he had clearly blown the cobwebs away and climbed through the field to finish in an incredible 2nd postion overall with a clear 1st in class.

Well done to Gary and the team for a successful day and a brilliant start to the 2026 season.
