At a warm and sunny day Donington Park, drivers Joe Osbourne and Tolman Motorsport British GT driver Luke Davenport paired up for the Masters Historic Sports Car race in the Lotus 19 Monte Carlo. With no practise available, qualifying was going to be Luke’s first experience of driving this classic Lotus. Osbourne used only his minimum number of laps and posted the fastest time of 1:45.474s. This ensured that Davenport had time to get to grips with the car. The pair eventually qualified 23rd out of 30 starters and 2nd in class.
Davenport started the race first with now an understanding of how to race a historic sports car! He made a great start, reducing his lap times steadily during his stint, eventually getting down to a 1:47.110s. A super clean driver change to GT3 ace Joe Osbourne brought great hopes for the team. Sadly a fuse breakage that turned the fuel pump off on his out lap put paid to a very promising 2015 debut.
During Testing Joe had recorded times in the 1:41s bracket so hopes were high for a good finish. But further development on the car can now be carried out for the Silverstone Classic.
