Tolman Motorsport finished round 4 of the championship at Snetterton leading the teams championship. The race weekend was unfortunately shortened down to two races instead of the usual three due to an accident in an earlier race.

From Alex Prestons qualifying position of 3rd place he made a good launch but got instantly blocked in by slower G40s which dropped him down to 4th. By keeping his head clear he took 3rd on the 2nd corner and then a lap later overtook at the same corner to take 2nd. With a large gap to 1st place driver Stuart Pearson, Alex kept pushing each lap until the final lap when he was right on his tail. He went for 1st at his favourite overtaking corner and took the lead but on the exit he got nudged, nearly putting him into a spin. He regained the lead but two corners later he had gone for another overtake and made it count and kept 1st place until going into one of the fastest corners of the track and got hit at the rear quarter which sent him off the track sideways. Alex made it back to the track quickly and brought the car back in 2nd. A later stewards enquiry deemed that the contact that sent him off track was deemed to be too hard and the win was awarded to Alex.

The start of race 2 for Alex was an exact repeat of the previous race getting boxed in at the start until going into the sharp 2nd corner hairpin, two G40s collided resulting in both of them spinning which meant he had to react extremely quickly to avoid both cars which dropped him back down to 4th. Alex then pushed and pushed throughout the whole session but there was too big a gap for him to close in to 1st place and finished in a podium 2nd place.

David Pattison had a reasonable qualifying session in hot conditions putting him 5th on the grid. Race 1 saw him having a difficult start on the narrow Snetterton track dropping a few places to fight his way back up to 5th. In race 2 he was again starting from 5th position. This time he was pushed out wide and dropped to last place. A determined drive saw him past quite a few G40’s in the first few laps. Series new comer Russ Simpson had a spin and then out braked himself running into the rear of David’s car! David carried on overtook Johnny greenwood to take a well deserved 4th.

Tolman Motorsport Team Manager Christopher Tolman commented, “Both drivers drove very good races and the cars performed faultlessly. We finished the weekend with both drivers maintaining 3rd and 4th in the championship and we still lead the teams championship.”
