This beautiful Delahaye races in the VSCC and stands as the oldest car to pass through Tolman’s restoration shop. It came to Tolman for a new fuel tank, as the owner stated it was suffering from fuel surge and had to run with a nearly-full tank at all times just to prevent misfires.
We removed and preserved the original tank so as not to destroy the vehicle’s provenance, carried out an assessment of feasibility, then showed a proposal to the client.
Once the proposal had been signed off, a custom aluminium tank was fabricated, foam-filled and fitted along with a fuel gauge (that was calibrated in the car).
The car can now run dry with no surge, making the project a complete success.
