In 2009, Tolman was introduced to the 1956 Lotus Elite when it was approached by a client to “have a look at his car’s suspension". This started a long association with the model and brand that has grown over the years to make Tolman the world’s foremost Elite restorer.
Tolman has carried out more Elite restorations than any other single operation and the company remanufactures many of the parts required, both for its own projects and the supply of MK14 components.
Clients come from all over the world, with all mechanical aspects being carried out in-house, but many racers use Tolman’s parts, and suspension development has been key to the improvements.
Christopher Tolman’s mantra is “non-invasive improvement" and Tolman has developed a wide range of improvements to increase reliability, ride quality and performance over the years. From a simple service to a full restoration, anything is possible, and no job is too small.
